Join Allison in exploring how adding resistance to your asana practice can build awareness and strength.
In this class we will use both a chair and a resistance band to begin exposing your body to novel stimuli. This varied approach to traditional poses initiates a new understanding of what’s happening in your body as you move. Over time your body will adapt to these activities and, progressively, you can build capacity and strength. We will examine how resistance can highlight movement in our torso, how we can work with resistance to add opportunities to strengthen our arms and legs, and play with how adding resistance can enhance stability in our bodies.
The class will follow a progressive sequence providing students with options to do what feels best in their body and allows time for exploring varied alternatives.
Class is appropriate for students who are comfortable being on the floor and transitioning from the floor to standing.
A red TheraBand resistance band can be included in the price of this class for $5 if you do not already own a resistance band.
